@FeliciaVerna Hosts @TeneNicolePR ‘s “Shopping Night Out”

Manhattan, NY (October 25, 2012) Thursday marked the second annual Tene Nicole “Shopping Night Out event benefitting Marlena Ortiz’s, “Beating Cancer in Heels” organization. The intimate evening was hosted by Ellure Zion’s own, Felicia Verna.

About the organization

Brooklyn native Marlena Ortiz is a young woman who is making her voice heard as a champion of women who face breast cancer and all its ramifications. At age 28, she is committed to changing the face of the disease by establishing her own foundation “Beating Cancer in Heels” in 2011. The foundation is dedicated to the empowerment of women by providing programming that helps the individual function in their own world with a positive attitude, and a face of hope and strength.


Through out the night guest were entertained by the old school grooves of music lengends like Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson to top 40 Artist such as Rihanna and Brandy. Singer/ Song writer Skyla Heavens also performed a few songs to relax the minds of attendants. Guest bided on the silent auction packages worth over four thousand in sponsorship goods.

Titled sponsors Lasio and Rio de Keratin displayed pop up stores on the second floor allowing guest to be treated to manicures and make overs in addition to taking advantage of the open bar sponsored by Fragoli and hordorves catered by the Wyatt Company.

On the red carpet I caught up with VH1’s Mobwives Raymona and Karen, Discovery ID’s I married a Mobster Toni Marie Ricci and artist Michael Bell who all shared their stories during our interview and support by coming out as I call it and “Mobbing for Cancer”. Guest Speaker Included Sharon Nelson. (Breast Cancer Survivor)

“I want people to know that breast cancer is not a death sentence,” she says. “When faced with a medical diagnosis, you need to learn how to take the best care of yourself which means getting other medical opinions, writing down your questions to be prepared for the interviews that you have with doctors and always remember you’re in control. Nobody but you knows what is best for your life and lifestyle.”
